Day 3 ~July 2nd~Day of fire

Zubiri to Pamplona, 13 miles 9 hours

So our mileage has dropped as we seem to get tired faster as it heats up. I havent figured out the conversion yet. This day was filled with a new terrain, fields of grain instead of cows and sheep. Doug was continually looking for bananas to prevent cramping as per Jim K's advice and like manna out of the sky as we are climbing up again, in the middle of nowhere, there was a man selling cold drinks and fruit. Doug got his banana. If this had been at home I would have been very suspicious , but the man was there for the pilgrims when they needed him.

As we approached Pamplona entering the suburbs Doug saw smoke and our path led us to a hay field on fire. Lots of pilgrims backed and stopped up by emergency personnel. It was a going concern. We waited for about a half hour when one of our type A pilgrim decided to maneuver the young crowd through the streets. Doug told them we would wait it out to the concern of some, but all left and doug was right we walked through about 5 minutes later.

Another fascinating day!!
