Day 17~ July 16 ~ walking again

Leon to Villar de Mazarife, 13.3 miles, 6.5 hours

Started early to beat the heat. We are still in the Meseta and so made good time because it was flat. We were so glad that we were able to stop walking before 2pm, boy does it get hot here.

Pictured is the Meseta and the church in Mazarife with stork nests. Storks seem to nest on most tall structures.

Iced the foot tonight, the bar that we are sleeping over have some very nice people that want to help.

  1. Hi Doug and Jamie

We have been faithfully following your progress via your blog and enjoy it very much. Although we didn't read it over the weekend and just checked it this morning (Mon.) We've also been praying for you, for your; safety, protection, guidance, health (feet among other things) and that this would draw you closer to God and each other.

Belated Happy Birthday Doug ... You're still not and old man... Keep on Truckin!!

Something that I read about has come to me a couple times as I have been praying. A woman who hadn't done much exercise decided to train for and run a marathon. A friend who had been running suggested she do what she does, especially when the going got tough which is, to have a prayer list of ideas to pray on during each mile such as; Love, Gratitude, Faith, God's Creation, Guidance, Family, Friends, etc. The woman thought that this might be a distraction but, in running the marathon, it got really hard and she decided to focus on one idea and pray about it for each mile. It got a lot easier and miles just seemed to move much more easily by and before long she had finished the marathon. I don't know if this will help, just thought that I'd share it.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. Num 6:24-26

    Love you Guys,

    Ron

  2. Doug and Jamie- A slightly delayed B-day greeting to you Doug. Glad both you and Jamie are alive and able to participate in a great journey like "The Way". Hope you're growing in relationship to God, each other, and others. Sounds like you're having a great time meeting people. Continuing to root for both of you. Sorry to hear about sore feet. Hope they repair quickly. Taking a little time off of them sounded like a good idea. Glad you're back walking. Faith, Hope, Love- Arlie
