Day 10 ~July 9~Rocks

Najera to Santo Domingo de Calzada, 13 miles, 7 hours.

Walked through vineyards and wheat fields the terrain got dryer as we went. Even though the elevation gains weren't great the dirt roads that we walked on were embedded with golf ball to football sized rocks that you could not avoid. I thought that by the end of the day our feet would be chopped meat! They looked good but felt bruised and beaten.

This day we met a group of 14 catholic seminary students that were walking in full robes. I can not imagine how hot these young men were. Most were American. Some of the young men were struggling with foot problems too. We stopped in the town that had a beautiful church that was built for a saint of the pilgrims. I don't quite understand about the saint stuff, but boy are Spain's churches a sight to see! Doug enjoys going into the less impressive more austere churches as they seem to be filled with flowers and the scent is wonderful.

We spent the evening looking in pharmacies looking for shoe inserts to lessen our feet pain. We are hoping for no pain!
