Day 2 ~ July 1~the Glory of yesterday, the Excitement of the moment, the Promise of tomorrow

Roncevalles to Zubiri, 14 miles, 8 hours.

Decided to only go 14 miles as we were sore from the previous day. The day started rainy, windy and cold. Very much like home! Thanks to Arlie, Doug did bring a rain jacket which he would have missed sorely today.

We have found that we are always looking for the signs that point the "Way". I have attached a few pictures that we see. This does not count the yellow spray painted arrows that adorn all sorts of posts, walls, curbs, & rocks, etc.

Great food, beautiful scenery, fascinating architecture, churches with chants playing, friendly people all calling out buen camino. We are still sore and the path ups and downs are still happening. Gotta love the chocolate croissants!

  2. awesome to be able to follow along. We just watched the movie "The Way"...which helps us relate/identify with what you're experiencing. A drop in the proverbial pond, of the actual experience you're on, I'm sure....but it's great to follow along on your blog here!

  3. Happy 4th of July to the American travelers! We love your blogging and pictures. Sounds wonderful despite the pain.

We went to the Kid's Parade and Grand Parade in Edmonds with Matt and Adelle's family this AM and early afternoon. Very festive and focused on freedom not being free. Took our own walk "pilgrimage" in the park later in the afternoon.

Had Madelynn, Alden and Anthony here last weekend. Went geochaching in Mt. Vernon on Saturday. Found 6 out of about 9. Fun!

    Keep walking and blogging. :)

    We will keep praying.

Your fellow pilgrims on this earth,
    Dave and Carol
