Day 14~ July 13 ~ Thankful

Atapuerca to Burgos, 12 miles, 8 hours

Went out the door of the albergue to follow the signs, "Oh, My, Goodness!". Straight up and more rocks! Very rocky all the until we hit the suburbs of Burgos, a city of 175,000. We decided to take an alternate route along the river, did not know that the path/park was over 5k long! Very pleasant, but let me whine a bit, my feet hurt! Okay done!

Got lost in Burgos looking for the albergue. Doug must have looked pitiful as a Spanish mom & daughter took him under their wing and escorted us to the front door 1/2 mile from where we were. We never would have found it without them. Today we thought of the angels that must be with us as we had some close calls with bikes, cars and getting lost.

The place we stayed was unlike anything we have experienced. Run by a Jesuit college, very regimented, kind hearted, lots of rules, and very quiet as praying was going on all day. We went to mass, ate as a community, and helped clean. I am so thankful for this resting spot, it made me think of my personal relationship with Jesus rather than doing things by rote or tradition. We were able to walk though the city a bit before mass. The Burgos cathedral is a beautiful gothic church. So amazing!!
